Transition Assembly 7-9th Feb 2025

Transition Assembly

Join us for the Transition Assembly - a key turning point in our Movement’s history.

Over two days, together we will reflect on where we stand, who we are and the role we want to play in shaping a more just and sustainable future.

Below you can book tickets, but before you do, please read the following information about practicalities and how to participate.

What will happen at the Transition Assembly?

The Transition Assembly is an opportunity for people involved in Transition in Wales and England to share, listen and co-create a vision for the future of the Transition Movement together.

This is a full weekend event. We are inviting you to arrive and connect on Friday evening. On Saturday, we’ll map where we are at, explore the challenges we face and the potential we have. On Sunday, we’ll ask and answer the key questions: what’s next for our Movement, how will we organise and what role do we each want to play? Ideally, participants will join us on both days, as the important decisions we need to make on Sunday will be built on the foundations of Saturday’s programme.

Who should attend?

To ensure many different Transition groups from across Wales and England can attend the Assembly, we are holding space for a maximum of two representatives from each Transition group. We have created this guide to help you decide who you should send. The Assembly is part of a wider dialogue taking place throughout the autumn and winter and there will be many other ways to engage and feed in for those who are not attending in person.

The Network weavers will also be pro-actively engaging with groups with specific skills and experiences to share, or from under-represented areas of the country, to help ensure a breadth of voices in the room.

A handful of representatives from aligned organisations will also be invited to join us, bringing their perspectives from the wider context in which we sit.

Read more about the Transition Assembly, why it is being held and the wider dialogue of which it is part.

Practical information

Venue Our sessions will take place at Seashell Trust in Cheshire, a charity supporting young people with disabilities. Our venue is fully wheelchair accessible. Please let us know of any other support needs when you book.

Accommodation and Travel This is not a residential event. We will share information on a range of accommodation options in the area and advice on travel to the venue by October 31st. We are exploring discounted rates at local hotels and the option of staying with a local Transition member host. If you need help with the cost of travel and accommodation, please let us know when you book.

Cost of the event Thanks to our funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, there is no charge for tickets. We recognise that participants will incur travel, accommodation and possibly other costs. Financial support will be available to help people overcome economic barriers to attending and make sure our event is accessible and inclusive to all. When you book, you are welcome to contribute, on a ‘pay what you feel’ basis, to help increase our ability to provide this financial support.

We hope you'll join us as we reflect, connect, and co-create the next chapter of Transition. Together, we’ll build the path forward, grounded in collaboration, vision, and a deep sense of purpose.
