Sharing the Pot: Exploring the SOUP Process of Participatory Budgeting

Join us for a short introductory webinar on SOUP Participatory Budgeting. SOUP is a simple, powerful way for communities to gather over a shared meal and collectively fund local ideas that benefit people and the planet. Rooted in a grassroots practice that began in Detroit, SOUP transforms small donations into seed funding for community-led projects, while strengthening connection, trust, and shared responsibility.

In this session, we’ll walk through the practical steps of organizing a SOUP event. We’ll also explore the deeper philosophy behind the model: how participatory budgeting shifts people from passive observers to active citizens, keeps resources circulating locally, and offers a hands-on way to practice democracy in everyday life.
